I was THERE for KC’s First GenreCon

The first ever Romance GenreCon hosted by Mid-Continental Public Library in Kansas City was a rousing success.  This was a true labor of love for the library.  There were

L-R: Moi, Pat Simmons, Kerrelyn Sparks, Janna MacGregor, Victoria Alexander, Sherry Thomas, Cherry Adair

historical fan games to play such as Regency gaming or you could pose for your own cover.  Cherry Adair was on hand to lead her popular plotting course.  Then there were panels with Pat Simmons, Kerrelyn Sparks, Janna MacGregor, Victoria Alexander, and Sherry Thomas.  The library also hosted a book fair featuring many KC authors.

Listening intently at Lady KC

Oh! And we debuted the Lady KC Reading Salon.  Sherry Thomas, Pat Simmons, Victoria Alexander, and Kerrelyn Sparks read from their latest books.  There is something special about hearing an author read from her own work.

A GREAT time was had by all. This was one of the best organized and most fun conferences I have ever attended.  Mid-Continental plans on hosting another GenreCon next August.  I hope you will be there.  I will!

For more information, follow the library’s events page at

And heads up!  Kristan Higgans will be there August 13.  Yes, in a few days.  Hurry over to the events page to register.  (Plus, tell Mid-Continental, they rock!)

I went to KC for the weekend and got this great new shirt!

Yes, these are librarians Beth Atwater and Amy Fisher. #librarianshavemorefun
